Carrick Hill | House & Gardens

Carrick Hill is Australias most intact twentieth-century heritage house museum and garden. Aspects of its privately-collected French, British and Australian fine and decorative arts collection are of an international standard, including masterpieces of British modernism and fine examples of seventeenth-century furniture and house fittings.

Carrick Hill is a significant South Australian cultural tourism attraction.

It comprises a major heritage building, being the previous home of Sir Edward and Lady Ursula Hayward; internationally significant art collections; original subsidiary buildings such as stables; and approximately 40 hectares of land which includes approximately 26 hectares of native bushland.

Carrick Hill is a significant South Australian cultural tourism attraction. The property is located close to the city of Adelaide in the Adelaide foothills with spectacular views stretching to Gulf St Vincent.

Carrick Hill was a bequest to the people of South Australia from the Haywards. The South Australian Government accepted the bequest in 1983 and the Carrick Hill Trust Act was enacted in 1985. Carrick Hill was officially opened to the public by Queen Elizabeth II in 1986.
