Higher Ground Inc is located in the heart of Adelaides Cultural & Entertainment Quarter at 9 Light Square (CBD - West End).
Adelaides very own independent, not-for-profit, multi-arts centre, that brings you a vast array of artistic, cultural and entertainment productions, events, exhibitions and gigs!
Higher Ground Inc is a not-for-profit incorporated arts association. That means any profits made go back into supporting additional projects - like our in-house visual arts and music event Elevation - marketing & publicity, and investment in equipment & technical resources for our users.
Our aim is to support, promote and develop artistic and cultural activities through a broad spectrum of artistic genres with a focus on supporting emerging artists and helping them to reach their audience. We do this by providing a venue that is centrally located, accessible, affordable and flexible.
Allowing artists to take their internal vision and transform it into a performance within a suitable space, so that Adelaides savvy & arts hungry audiences can access it is what we are all about.
Finding and resourcing that space has been our driving goal ever since our inception in 2004, and has taken us from Pulteney St, to the Old Imax Cinema in Rundle St, and since February 2008 to our new home here in Light Square. We have found this to be an ideal space, that has allowed us to create three unique spaces with a variety of uses - the Main Theatre, ArtBase and ArtCafe.
Higher Ground Incs programming style is varied across most genres, allowing for artists from diverse artistic disciplines to find a "home base"for themselves and their work. It allows us to continue supporting the arts industry here in Adelaide, and to support Adelaides diverse artistic communities to continue growing, connecting and creating!
We are so thankful to the amazing artists and performers who continue to make the most of what this arts centre has to offer, to our wonderful staff, and all the amazing volunteers who give so generously of your time and the tremendous support from Arts SA.
