The Mill is South Australia’s leading multidisciplinary arts organisation.
Our CBD venue includes 57 artist studios, two galleries, a performing arts space, sound and photography studios, a tools workshop and shared meeting facilities.
The Mill is a multi-arts hub based in the heart of Adelaide; a vibrant place of connection, creation, and support for ambitious and exceptional artists.
The Mill’s vision is for a thriving and prosperous arts culture in South Australia. Since 2013 we’ve supported thousands of artists and creatives, linking curious, engaged audiences with the arts.
Galleries
The Mill's galleries showcase independent exhibitions and residencies, and exhibitions by our studio residents, with a focus on process, collaboration and creative practice.
Our two galleries are the perfect setting for events, providing you with an artistic setting for a dinner or celebration. Both galleries feature concrete floors and access to a kitchenette and toilets. Our small bar licence also allows us to cater for groups large and small, and we can also provide catering and staff.
Theatre - The Breakout
The Breakout is a performing arts space home to programs including The Mill’s Performing Arts Residencies, Masterclasses, Adelaide Fringe season and more.
Upstairs Studio
A light and airy warehouse, Upstairs Studio is a creative space for hire in Adelaide CBD, perfect for your next photo/video production or intimate workshop.
Artist Studios
Situated in the heart of the Adelaide CBD, The Mill's Artist Studios provide space for visual artists and makers of any discipline to operate an affordable studio within a professional and arts-compatible environment.
Current and past uses include sculpture, ceramics, graphic design, woodworking, illustration, fashion, painting, photography and more.
Creative Industry Offices
The Mill's Creative Industry Offices provide room for small arts or art-adjacent businesses to operate a private, affordable workspace in a professional and arts-compatible environment.
Spaces range in size from single-person offices to larger co-working studios and retail spaces with ground-floor window frontage.
Current and past uses include fashion design, visual art, publishing, graphic design, game development, pop-up retail, and more.
Desks
The Mill has a range of desks available, ideal for writers, photographers, digital creators and small-scale makers.
The Mill's Exhibition Space and offices are open Monday-Friday, 10am to 4pm.
